Winterlude is the three weekend festival in Ottawa every year on the Rideau Canal. In the winter Ottawa freezes over the canal which creates the longest skating rink in the world, it's free for all (except that you will HAVE to buy a "beaver tail" which is like a kind of VERY VERY good donut) and provides some of the best times of the year. There's ice sculpting contests, organized hockey and ringette games, lots of food, games and of course skating! Somehow my trip home this year coincides with this event... coincidence? :-)
