Fall Freshness

This is one of the best times of the year, just before Fall arrives, when the leaves start changing colours, fresh air, bright shining sun and just a hint of the coming chill. Absolutely beautiful:

It's great to be in Canada right now. I'll be posting more pics like this over the coming week for sure so if you've got some you're particularly proud of just shoot me an e-mail! :-) :-)

Wednesday Funnies

Scammed this one from Vowe.net, it actually made me smile after reading it:

Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing. He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed."

"OH NO!" the President exclaims. "That's terrible!"

His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President sits, head in hands. Finally, the President looks up and asks,

"How many is a brazillion?"

I would have had this headline as my #1 funny for the day if I could decide if it was absolutly hilarious or just plain crazy! "Danes provide prostitutes for the disabled"?!?!

Odense or Obscene??

Rocking around Odense one might think something fishy's going on, either that or we've got a dirty, dirty mind. Take a look at some of the sights of Odense and tell me what YOU would think!

Um... is this titled insertion?

There's a bird in the sky perhaps? ;-)

I'm not sure I see what's so abnormal ;-)

Trick camerawork extraordinaire:

Ouch!

Now that's comfy!

Some store clerk playing a funny joke had the manican pants drop, nothing to see here eveyone, move along, move along!

I love the Danish language:

This button "Boys are Toys" was on some guy's backpack and I though it was hilarious, he didn't though and almost killed me for taking this picture. I guess he had a bit of a masculinity complex, maybe rightly so ;-)

Ouch, the most riské post EuroRoss has ever had I guess, except for maybe those self shots of me in the morning straight out of bed... now those were scary!! ;-)

Petrol Price Explosion

I love this t-shirt mocking the current gas price situation here in North America:

I'm not sure what we're all complaining about, sure the gas companies are totally ripping us off, but prices for gas per litre has been over 60% more expensive in Europe than in NA (due to taxes) the past couple years. Granted we drive a heck of a lot more here in NA, but maybe it's time to put that SUV to rest... but I love my SUV!! sniff sniff

File It Down

Remember the Jet Blue plane at LAX airport Los Angelos that had trouble last week? Take a look at the nosegear:

Amazingly (and thankfully) nobody was hurt.

Stewie Slave

Having a bad day? Just go and command Stewie to do something. Definatly in the image of the Burger King ads that are all over the place, and thank you to ad exec's that finally entertain us with your marketing crap!

Mother Of...

If anyone is wondering if there is such thing as blinding pain let me just confirm it for you now... yes there is. Tequila and a uni-bash are the culprits this time. This pic is the only thing I can console myself with that might feel worse than my head does right now:

Principal Approval

It's great to see the creativity of these high school students who modified this sign to hilarity:

What's Up?

What's Up? - 4 Non Blondes

Twenty-five years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill
of hope
For a destination

And I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this brotherhood
of man
For whatever that means

And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out
What's in my head
And I am feeling a little peculiar

And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream at the top of my lungs
What's going on?

And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?

ooh, ooh ooh and I try,
oh my god do I try
I try all the time,
in this institution

And I pray,
oh my god do I pray
I pray every single day
For a revolution

And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out
What's in my head
And I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream at the top of my lungs What's going on?

And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?

Twenty-five years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination

Congrats to the most spirited tri-sport (running, biking, canoeing) team in all of France! Looking good!

Can't wait for Roller 24 in LeMans next year!

King of the Zulu's

I get alot of weird traffic. People find my blog by searching for things like "weinnachtmarkt", "first to pass out" and "crazy crowd" (the last 3 recorded search results that clicked through to my blog) but when I happened to check language setting breakdowns of my visitors I came across something I found funny:

I'm getting about 30-50 hits a month from people with "Zulu" as their operating system primary language! Now I have no idea how many "Zulu blogs" their might be out there, or why they find my blog (written in english... written badly in english) is so interesting to them, but what the hay:

Welcome Zulu nation to EuroRoss!

I hope you enjoy your stay :-)

Visions of Beauty

Now this is the kind of art that I can get into. Over at Liquid Sculputre, Martin takes high speed photos of coloured water slashes. Some of the pics are breathtaking, but it's too bad he doesn't show video's of the splashes :-( None the less, go on over and take a gander at some of these beauties:

And my personal famorite:

You Asked For It

Against my better judgement I'm going to post the pics from this weekend :-) To everyone who e-mailed wanting the photos, buyer beware :-)

After Greg and Dan came down to Ottawa to see Pearl Jam on Friday night we woke up early to drive to T-dot/waterloo for the rest of the weekend. After 6 hours we finally had arrived in Waterloo and didn't waste any time cracking the beers and enjoying the sushine:

We hit the bars (what happened to "no way we're going to McMullins??"), got down to business and finally got a hold of the new house owners extraodinaire Julie and Drew and stopped by for a visit and some late night poker:

By 4:30 am some of us were pretty tuckered out... some of us also hit it just a little too hard:

No matter that's your brothers $50,000 Maxima you just puked on, save the CK jeans!

If passing out on the hood of your car in your underwear wasn't dumb enough, try doing it near a drunk Ross! Notice the smile on Grizy's face, yep another satisfied customer ;-)

If you think that's bad, click here (you need Quicktime to view it) or the photo below for a video which boggles the mind. Yep it's official, we're idiots when we hang together! :-) Great times though!!

After a VERY long day of partying we headed to Toronto to enjoy football sunday (Bucs destroyed the Bills just for the record!). The film festival is going on in Toronto right now and there's even some filming happening downtown. I caught them in action here although I didn't see any superstars :-(

Couldn't complain about the weather, absolutely beautiful outside:

I was finally able to hook up with my brother before heading back. Good looks run in the family ;-)

Thanks to everyone I saw for another great weekend. I've got some non-internet friendly pics and video's to share that I'll get to ya when I see ya. So what's up for next weekend? ;-)

Weekender Sunset

The sun sets on another great weekend...

Old Friends, Great Friends

I'm home.

I'm home.

It's worth repeating a thousand times. my Canadian comrads doing the overseas thing like me... they all know... everyone knows... this... is... home.

To the gang tonight... to everyone over e-mail, phone, postcard, telegraph, bat signal, piegon carrier, whatever... this... is home. You can take the Canadian out of Canada, but you can't take the Canada out of the Canadian...

My buddy puzzled to me tonight: "your blog is cool, but why do you put the lyrics in there?". Well the feeling I have right now... at 6am in the morning after a full day including Ottawa, Toronto, Brampton, Waterloo, Kitchener and everyone/where inbetween... that's why.

One song... Snow Patrol - Run. Buy it, download it, borrow it, whatever... then you'll know why. Thanks to my friends, you are priceless and with all our flaws, crap and bullshit we get into with each other (even you Grizzy puking on the door tonight!), I wouldn't trade you for anything... ab-so fucking lute-ly nothing!

Enjoy:

I'll sing it one last time for you
Then we really have to go
You've been the only thing that's right
In all I've done

And I can barely look at you
But every single time I do
I know we'll make it anywhere
Away from here

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

Louder, louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say

To think I might not see those eyes
Makes it so hard not to cry
And as we said our long goodbyes
I nearly did

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

Have heart my dear
We're bound to be afraid
Even if it's just for a few days
Makin' up for all that's less

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

---------

We take it for granted... until we go overseas and miss it. Got my Timmy Horton's today... not rubbing it in at all, but you're coffee's hot and waiting for ya... see you soon...

Lazy Cats

I want to be a cat. Over the past 2 days I've been home for a collective 20 minutes (Ottawa tour, camping and hockey) and this is what I've caught the cats doing:

Sleeping...

Sleeping...

and sleeping...

Ah the life of a cat! Man those are some scary looking eyes! ;-)

Update: Saw Vanilla Sky again last night and these pics reminded me of one of the lines in the movie when Sofie (Penelope Cruz) says: "I'll tell you in another life, when we are both cats." Some other great lines from the movie here, including my personal favorite:

"Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around"

Words to live by...

Soon meeting up with Greg and Dan to hit Ottawa and Pearl Jam tonight, sweet!

Where Are You?

Our Lady Peace does it again. I love catching up with all the new music/movies/TV that's been goin' on here in Canada while I've been away... awesome!

Where Are You? - Our Lady Peace

Hey you
Have you felt like this before?
You got style but ain't got soul
Are you happy now?
Are you happy, tonight?
Or did Punk Rock get it right?
Is there no future in sight?
Oh is it different now?
Is it different?
Come on
Come on, come on, come on

Where are you?
Where are you?
I'm kicking and screaming
You're not listening...

Where are you?
Where are you?
Everything I've believed in,
has lied to me
But this could be the best day,
of my life
The best day of my life

Hey you
Have you got everything you want?
Or do you want more than you got?
Is it different now?
Is it different, tonight?
Or did Jesus get it right?
Or is the devil behind the light?
Are you happy now?
Are you happy?
Come on
Come on, come on, come on

Where are you?
Where are you?
I'm kicking and screaming,
You're not listening ...

Where are you?
And where are you?
Everything I've believed in,
has lied to me
But this could be the best day of my life
Oh this could be the best day of my life
Ohhh sons and daughters,
Mothers and fathers,
Everyone's waiting for our luck to change
Sons and daughters,
Mothers and fathers,
Everyone's waiting, waiting
Cause this could be the best day
And this could be the best day
And this could be the best day, best day, best day
Come on
Come on, come on, come on
Where are you?
Where are you?
I'm kicking and screaming
You're not listening...

Where are you?
And where are you?
Everything I've believed in,
has lied to me

Choices Choices

Instead of working in the country maybe you should try Work in Ze City ;-) Or, if you're not up for a rockin' night out on the town in Paris then you can always stay at home at make an X-wing Fighter out of the metro ticket that got you home. Of course you can never account for taste... nor which Paris activity in which someone chooses to partake ;-)

The Ultimate

With the start of OHL and NHL hockey just around the corner, I figured it was time to start my training... fan training that is! Today I got my ultimate gear going, the Sens jersey, my Molson Ex beer slash Tim Horton's coffee combo hard hat, and of course that winning cheering craziness attitude! Go Sens Go!!

I've also got the deets on this years hockey pool! To spare me from collecting $5 from everyone (which is a real pain in the ass), this year's pool is just for bragging rights and a beer from each to the winner at the bar whenever we meet up at the end of the season. To get in go to Yahoo.com fantasy sports (http://hockey.fantasysports.yahoo.com/hockey), create a Yahoo account if you don't already have one, and log in:

League: #46221 "Game Misconduct"
Password: "leafssuck" (with no capitals or spaces)

Then if you want you can change the order of your automatic draft list (the computer automatically puts the list in order from highest to lowest from last year, so if there's specific players you want you can put them to the top). The automatic draft will begin the last weekend of September so log-in soon and get your list ready for the season so you don't have to worry about it. Each player gets 1 point for each goal and assist, goalies (you must have at least one) get 2 points per shutout. That's it! May the best fan win! (and by the way, I like Molson Ex lads, so get ready to ante up at the end of the season ;-)

PS> Leafs suck!

The Moose

Today a legend has retired. After 25 years in the NHL, Mark Messier has finally hung his skates up. Known as the greatest leader in professional sports, Messier's ability to lift teams up and carry them to victory is legendary (he has 6 Stanley Cups, the only player to captain 2 different teams in winning a Cup, as well as 3 Canada Cup Championships). The stats speak for themselves: Second all time career points, third in assists, second in games played, second in playoff appearances, seventh in goals, second all time playoff goals, assists and points, 2 Hart trophies (most valuable player of the league), 2 Comm Smythe trophies, 4 first team all star selections... the list goes on. I can still remember staying up late, watching the good old Oilers raking up the points against helpless opponents; or those great playoff series against the Islanders and Flames. Wow, that was hockey!

He's known as "The Moose" because of his all round ability in every facet of the game, and he played it with an edge. His style of play and single minded determination to win endeared him to fans. There's an old joke that exemplefies this:

The three greatest hockey players of all time; Mario Lemieux, Wayne Gretsky and Mark Messier one day stand before God at his throne. God asks Lemieux "Mario, what do the people think of you?". Mario answers "The people of Pittsburg love me, I brought the passion of hockey to a city who previously only knew football."

God then turns to Gretsky and asks the same "Wayne, what do the people think of you?". Wayne replies "The people of Edmonton love me, hockey fans throughout North America called me 'the Great One'".

Finally God turns to Messier, "Mark what did the people think of you?". Mark replies: "The people of Edmonton and New York adore me, I brought championships to their city, and quite frankly they think you're sitting in MY seat". :-)

So long Mess, thanks for the memories... we'll miss you.

Dig All The Way To China

When you're a kid playing at the beach you're parents sometimes aliveate your nagging by suggesting that you dig straight down through the sand all the way to China. Well I never actually got there, but if I did I wouldn't have actually ended up in China rather somewhere off the southwest coast of Australia as this geekycool utility (via the hottie over at Blogaholics) shows me:

Try it and see where you'd end up! :-)

Paris Bike Guy

It's another beautiful day here in CP, so great in fact that I busted out the old mountain bike and started tuning it up for a ride. Man it's been a while, I don't think any amount of oil will fix this rusty chain and I'll probably have to replace it. It was so much better in Paris when I could just grab the bike and goooooo:

As picturesc as these are, they do nothing to show how dangerous it actually was to be biking around the arc really was. There were cars everywhere!

But you can't beat that view!

Enjoy the rest of the day everyone! :-)
